Inspire me!

To me inspirations are reminders of who we are. Big or small, loud or soft, costly or free, they come to us unexpectedly. Outside manifestations of that part of us deeply buried in our psyche. And if you are lucky or brave enough to follow them, you just might find out who you are.

My inspiration happened 9 years ago when I attended a gem show. I came across a little pink glass bead with rose inlays. Thoughts of “how pretty”, “how Victorian” and “I think I can make a pendant out of it” flashed through my brain in that instant and that was it. I had finally found my medium of creativity. I didn’t need to question it, I just knew. All my attempts at drawing and painting, woodworking (I only lasted 3 meetings), stained glass, illustration, advertising…all somehow converged at that moment in clarity. I know, sounds a bit melodramatic, but it’s true. Yes, from a tiny bead on sale. For me that moment started a journey of acquiring new knowledge, new tools, new ventures, and most importantly a validation of self.

Did that one moment or the journey answer all my life questions, life quest? (speaking of melodramatic....) Of course not, but it answered for me one very important question and that was "Who am I?"

It was a pink bead similar to this one. The original inspiration was made into a necklace and was sold.

I found this sweet piece in an antique shop. I think it's a Kremenz, but not positive. I love the colors and composition of this piece.

It inspired me to create this necklace below.

I Love Love this piece. I call it the trumpet flower pin. When I saw those leaves, I just had to have it.

It inspired me to create this leaf necklace.
